Ice cream is amazing, candy is amazing, therefore ice cream and candy mixed together is just out of this world. Which is why blizzards and friend-z are the end all be all of the ice cream family. While they are basically the exact same thing there are some pretty key differences.
Lets start with the Blizzard. I've been going to Dairy Queen since I was basically a newborn. It's my dad's favorite place. Every year come March (awkward I know it opens in March) we take the annual trip to the DQ. My friends even know that my family is a DQ family. With that being said, when i'm feeling adventurous (aka when i'm deciding to be fat) I always go for the blizzard. The options are endless. Theres the classic pb cup with vanilla, the brownie batter, cake batter, oreo and even cookie dough. Not only are there so many to choose from they also have the tiny blizzard which is every #thin girls dream. You just can't go wrong with a mini pb cup blizzard. You get to enjoy a blizzard with out feeling like a whale after. While they do have variety with the size and the flavors they are also kind of missing something. Now onto the Friend-z.
The Friend-z. Friendly's is open year round to start things off. I know we have talked about Friendly's before and it is a little "trashy" but they bring a few good things to the table. Starting with the reese's friend-z. It's mouth watering. They took the blizzard and just amped it up in all aspects. They throw in some pb sauce and some hot fudge to give it that extra kick. Granted it's the only friend-z i've ever gotten, besides when I was young and got vanilla with gummy bears (weird I know), it's just a grade A mix.
Weighing the pros and the cons of both I'm going to have to give the Friend-z the title of "winner." Realistically what Friendly's needs to do is make a mini size so the #thin girls can enjoy a little treat too, but they are just doing it right over there with the mix. Who knows maybe this year DQ will throw us a curve ball and step up their blizzard game. But for now the average girl is sticking with the Friend-z.
**side note: the other day I got a McFlurry, and it was like pretty good. Sort of like a blizzard but the ice cream was pretty "plain." Since its McDonalds and they sell fish sandwiches and the McRib I felt a little weird about it. But if duty calls and all you have is a McDonalds the pb cup McFlurry is appropriate.

Don't try a birthday cake friend-z. That shit is gross... and turns your mouth blue because it has hard blue frosting in it. And Mcflurrys are good.. except for when you get to the bottom and it's just straight vanilla ice cream.
ReplyDeleteoreo mcflurrys are good as well..except i agree with above. vanilla ice cream at bottom. nothing better than a good old reeses friend-z from friendlys with extra peanut butter cups. takes me back to the glory days--dippin chickin (or of course a honey barbecue chicken supermelt-sans ranch) followed by a reeses friend-z
